In The School Run, Ali Lowe dives into the heart of Australian suburban drama with a sharp wit and a keen eye for the absurdities of modern parenting. In a picturesque beachside community, three mothers are each battling to get their son into the local private school—and gain the social prestige that comes with it. There's Kaya, the widow determined to fulfil her late husband's wishes; Estella, the neighbour obsessed with outmanoeuvring the competition; and Bec, whose anxiety drives her to think she can bake her way into the school's good graces. These strong female characters make this novel a standout. The desperate measures they employ, including identity fraud and manufacturing their religious devotion, are equal parts deplorable, entertaining and understandable, thanks to Lowe's clear and perceptive writing. Taking a light-hearted approach to serious themes, The School Run is a reflective narrative about Australian culture and a parent's protective instincts.

Bad editing
I really enjoyed the book but there were so many mistakes that detract from the storyline for me which is a shame. One minute she’s drinking coffee and the next tea, calling characters by the wrong name etc.
