Publisher Description
Nick has always been in his big brother's shadow and never quite felt like he measured up to Liam. When their little sister comes home traumatized from her latest abduction, Nick takes matters into his own hands. He decides to go on a hunt alone to ensure Alex won't have to face fear like that again.
Liam has always been the dominant twin and the leader of the younger generation of the Shifter Squad. His shoulders are weighed down by the responsibility Agent Steel has given him. Even with all of his skills and training, he can't always keep his team safe. Sometimes, he feels like a failure and that he'll never be good enough.
Both twins go off alone during their short break from missions, but their vacations are anything but peaceful. They'll be forced to confront their own issues that neither of them wanted dragged out into the light. It will either break them, or make them strong enough to face the ordeal they sense is coming.

Shifter Squad Next Gen Book 9
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Book #9 is the second last book in this series. It is written from the point of view of the twins – Nick and Liam. This book gives us the back stories of Freya and Raina, true mates of the twins and how they meet. It brings the two girls into the team along with their own forms of power.
Nick meets Freya while on a self-imposed mission to find the vampire Killion. He believes that through Killion he will find the witch who is causing such harm to his sister. Freya has her own reasons for wanting to find Killion and his crew, so they agree to work together to find the vampire and bring him down.
After Nick and Freya return home together, Liam decides he needs some time alone but what he doesn’t tell the team is that he will be investigating some strange goings on in another part of the country. Fate intervenes again and Liam meets his true mate Raina.
Although the other members of the squad are finding their true mates and their own happy ever after’s Alex is still parted from her true mate Jax and her happiness.
While there are a few secrets revealed in this book there are still multiple stories to be concluded in the final book of the series. What or who is the strange entity bonded with Alex and Jax? Is this entity the reason that they have been forced apart in the human world? Will the past that Crowmon is trying to atone for finally catch up with him? Will the old god summoning monsters to the squads dimension be discovered and stopped? Will they ever be able to stop the witch and reunite Alex with her family?
Being an avid reader of all J C Diem books I am sure the answer to all these questions and more will be answered in book #10. Can’t wait…
