Publisher Description
Relish the incomparable imagination of Christopher Paolini in this thrilling collection of stories based in the world of Eragon and the internationally bestselling Inheritance Cycle.
A wanderer and a cursed child. Spells and magic. And dragons, of course. Welcome back to the world of Alagaësia.
It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagaësia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. When a vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors, and an exciting Urgal legend surface, Eragon is faced with a much-needed distraction that may lead to a new perspective.
This volume features three original stories set in Alagaësia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure. Included is an excerpt from the memoir of the unforgettable witch and fortune-teller Angela the herbalist . . . penned by Angela Paolini, the inspiration for the character, herself!
Also includes four new pieces of original art by the author.
"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." --The Washington Post
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In a collection of three short pieces, Paolini returns to the world of his bestselling Eragon series for the first time since 2011's Inheritance, picking up not long after that installment's conclusion. A framing sequence sees dragon rider Eragon chafing at his newfound responsibilities in developing the next generation of riders, and he finds a measure of both distraction and inspiration in others' exploits, which are conveyed through visions and storytelling. In "The Fork," a rambunctious innkeeper's daughter encounters a mysterious traveler whose attempt to broker a deal goes sour. In "The Witch," cowritten by Paolini's sister, Angela Paolini, Eragon gains new insights into the mysterious origins of an herbalist, also named Angela. And in "The Worm," one of the monstrous Urgals seeks to defeat an ancient dragon that slew her father and periodically terrorizes her village. Though very little occurs in these stories, established fans may enjoy checking in on favorite characters and a world they enjoy. Ages 12 up.)

A Very Satisfying Epilogue
I started this and finished it the same day, unable to put it down. I found the anthology format and exploration of the characters involved did a fantastic job of scratching my Inheritance itch! I sincerely hope this is an epilogue to the Inheritance Cycle but also that it becomes something of a prologue for a future series. Mr. Paolini, if you’re reading this, Alagaësa is my favourite fantasy setting and has been since I was a child. I sincerely hope to see more of it in the form of new riders, dragons, and heroes besides. Elrun ono, Christopher Elda
Amazing
I absolutely love all of Christopher Paolini’s books I have read the inheritance cycle 4 times just waiting for a new book
The latest from Eragon
It’s been a long time since I got to sit down and read a book, but when I happened across this it took me back to when I read the inheritance series. Seeing how the characters I fell in love with have developed and changed is exciting and riveting. And I am very excited to see what comes next, to learn more about what has happened since inheritance and what the new adventures are around the corner. I cannot wait to read the next book from Christopher, and hopefully it’s more from alagaësia.
