APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
David Baldacci’s Inside Story: “This book introduces Amos Decker and it’s the novel where I feel I did everything that I wanted to do. It’s one of the very few things that I’ve written where I don’t have any regrets—I don’t think that I missed anything or had a false note anywhere. Mainly because I feel that the character is so interesting. Now, wherever I go, people talk about two series. They talk about The Camel Club and they talk about Amos Decker. It’s a bit like when you’re an athlete: I left everything on the field with this novel. I gave it my all.”
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This strong first in a new thriller series from bestseller Baldacci (The Escape) introduces Amos Decker, the memory man, whose unique abilities are the result of a vicious hit he suffered as a 22-year-old NFL rookie that ended his football career. The injury induced hyperthymesia and synesthesia in Decker he forgets nothing, and he counts in colors and sees time as pictures in head." Years later, the murders of his wife and daughter left him too grief-stricken to continue working as a cop in what may be Burlington, Vt. At age 42, the grossly overweight Decker is barely scratching out a living as a PI. The arrest of Sebastian Leopold for the slaughter of his family and a mass shooting at a local high school combine to put an unwilling Decker back into the game with temporary credentials as a policeman. Rusty but still brilliant, he rejoins his former partner, detective Mary Lancaster, in investigating both cases. A startling discovery links the school killings and those of his family. Baldacci supplies a multitude of clever touches as his wounded bear of a detective takes on a most ingenious enemy.

Amos Decker #1, Definitely a Page Turner
A strong story introducing Amos Decker
Better than expected
Looking forward to the rest of the series
A far fetched yarn
I stuck it out until the end but wished this weird tale, which ventured into an almost comic book fantasy at times, would end long before it did. True, it kept my attention but not enough, as I had nights off without unduly missing it. So in summary, too long and too distanced from reality.
Far Fetched
An enjoyable thriller and Amos Decker is a great creation, but how on earth are we to believe that the police and FBI let first, a PI and then a reporter, get involved with an investigation and end up running it. Come on ....!!!
