Publisher Description

As the most serious threat ever facing the galaxy now looms over them—weapons able to destroy stars—Calvin and his enterprising crew continue their mission to expose and eliminate the dark conspiracy that has taken root inside the Empire. Now a fugitive on the run, Calvin has no choice but to work alongside Raidan’s mysterious Organization. And accept help from the unlikeliest band of fair-weather friends, including a mysterious squad of Polarian soldiers, an ex-intelligence-operative from the Rotham Republic, and the ever elusive Tristan—whose truest motives are a closely guarded secret.

To make matters worse, Calvin is hunted mercilessly across the stars by Intel Wing’s top operative, Lafayette Nimoux, who is aided by a double-agent on Calvin’s own ship.

Meanwhile the sands of fortune are shifting within the Empire, upsetting the delicate political climate. Warships and civilian transports are vanishing without a trace and murders in the dark are going unnoticed. All eyes are fixed on Renora—a human colony that has been savagely attacked and thrown into civil war. The prime suspect behind the attack is none other than Princess Kalila Akira. All the dark signs are pointing to what could be the death of the Empire, and the end of human dominance in the galaxy.

Phoenix Rising

RLS can be rightfully proud of this series, I will see it through to the end.

Good sequel with a few minor issues

Thoroughly enjoyed this book as with the first in the series. The action was well-written and the plot development kept me reading long after I should've been asleep.

There were a few things that I felt might be improved, for one the character development wasn't as good as in the previous book and I feel some more could be done with the Polarian and the Human interaction. Also the storyline, whilst very enjoyable, seemed to be a little too protracted meaning that occasionally certain parts of the story took a little longer than perhaps necessary. But this is just my opinion, don't let me deter you from enjoying this great second instalment.

Overall, I would say the book had plenty of fast paced, gripping scenes that were thoroughly enjoyable, but it lacked a few of the familiar quirks that the first book had.

I look forward to reading book 3.

Awesome follow up

After reading the first book, which the author currently offers for free. This was an excellent follow up.

The characters become more and more immersive and the story is compelling. I immediately bought the next book in the series.
