Descripción editorial
In Ed's Red Bed, 4th reader, the child continues to analyze words. The most important ability is for the child to recognize consonants and vowels. Words form a definite pattern the reader must look for. It is important for the child to know which sound is attached to the consonants and which sound is attached to the vowels. A hyphen is used to force the reader to focus on the first letter, which is always changing, between a consonant and a vowel. This series only uses the short “e” sound and the hyphen helps the child to hear this sound.
