Customer Reviews
Not a great recording
I gave this audiobook recording 3 stars because it cost less than $2. The narrator reads some things a little awkwardly and it can be hard to distinguish between character voices most of the time. Also, it isn't edited very well. Some parts of the recording get pretty quiet. There are several phrases in the book which the narrator repeats two or three times to get it right, but the editor clearly didn't bother to take care of that. I probably could have found a better podcast for free.
Bad Narration
This narration is awful. The narrator rereads sentences 1 or 2 times over. The editing is non-existent; you can hear background noises from the street, the house, the narrator turning pages, etc. At one point the narrator became so tongue tied that she said "blah blah blah". In many places the narrator loses her place. It is so unprofessionally done. No wonder in was so inexpensive.
Emma
I thought the narrator was actually quite good. I only made it halfway through the first chapter four different Libravox recordings of Emma before I gave up on those. Sometimes, liver Vox recordings are quite wonderful, and I hate to be critical of volunteers. However, whoever edited this must've been drunk. It was just weird. Again, for $1.95, maybe one can only be so fussy. I feel like I got my moneys worth. If I wanted Emma Thompson and a musical score, I probably have to pay 20 bucks. after a while, all the weird non-edits of stammering and restarts became sort of amusing. I Magent that this is what it's like to try to read a book out loud. If I tried it it wouldn't be this good, but I'm not charging anyone money. So, listen to the preview, shake your piggy bank, and judge for yourself.
