Part Four: DRAMA CLUB!!!

Astrid didn’t dare open her eyes. She was aware of a strong pair of arms holding her lifeguard-style, but she wasn’t sure what to do now.
She cracked her eyes open the tiniest bit—and then flung them open when she saw exactly what was going on.
Tam was holding her in his arms, and both of them were standing under the big dragon statue.
Neither of them moved for several moments. The Tam asked, “Are you okay?”
And Astrid’s brain melted.
“I—I think I’m okay,” she whispered. “Th-Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Was it just her imagination, or was he blushing as much as she was?
Carefully he took her over to a nearby bench and sat her down, sitting next to her. He took one of her hands in both of his.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked.
She stared into his eyes. Once, they had looked cold and piercing. Now they were innocent and confused, but curious.
“I-I…”
Astrid had no idea what to say. So she settled for awkwardly turning away and saying, “I’m fine, honestly. I really am.”
Tam took her wrist.
“Wait.”
He took a deep breath and said, “Astrid…I really like you. I’ve had a crush on you since the moment I met you. I don’t know why, but I love you, and I want to keep you safe.”
Tam closed his eyes.
He’d said it. Finally.
And, as Keefe would put it, it was a Yay, The World Didn’t Collapse! Moment.
Astrid laughed. “Tam, I love you too. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head yet, but now I kinda don’t want to.”
Tam and Astrid smiled. Then they pulled each other closer and wrapped themselves in each other’s arms, sliding into the kiss like ice into a tall glass of water.
