Publisher Description
When casino worker Wren Gillebrand goes missing, there’s no evidence of foul play, but her boss, Lucian Blane, knows just how evil humans can be. He is the Lord of the Underworld, after all. Together with Wren’s friend Vee, Blane sets out to solve the mystery and get his best blackjack dealer back where she belongs.
All Wren tried to do was help a friend, but now her life is in danger. With survival her only goal and uncertain who to trust, she does the only logical thing: she runs. But with a gang of monsters and the devil himself on her tail, there’s only so far a girl can get.
A Devil in the Dark is set in the real world with supernatural elements, aka magical realism. The story features plenty of humour and a morally grey hero, and can be read as a standalone—no cliffhanger!

A Devil In the Dark
I just finished reading A Devil in the Dark. The story revolves around Wren Gillebrand, a casino worker who goes missing under mysterious circumstances.
Her boss, Lucian Blane—who happens to be the Lord of the Underworld—teams up with Wren’s friend Vee to figure out what happened. It has a bit of suspense and supernatural elements.
I loved how the team gets together just for Wren.
The writing is fun as is Elise’s usual style, the banter witty, and the story funny. If you’re into urban fantasy with a hint of mystery and romance, this one’s definitely worth picking up!
A Devil in the Dark
I was so excited to read Blaine’s story, and my only complaint is it ended! Elise Noble had a way of writing that engages a reader with the characters. I highly recommend this series! Well written, and a great story!!!
Humorous and witty
I had a lot of fun while reading A Devil in the Dark.
The book has an extensive cast of characters, some related to book one of the series. The plot is a whirlwind of changing situations and new personages dotted with unexpected twists and entertaining cameo scenes, alternating serene moments of domestic life with high-octane action.
The story progresses at a steady pace, becoming almost frantic in the second part of the book,
The cast of characters is one of the best attributes of the book.
Ms. Noble's creativity summons a slate of diverse, rich, and entertaining personalities, each meticulously well-defined and brought to life.
Their stories entertain, anger, or move the reader with an easy-to-follow storyline.
I eagerly await the next chapter in the lives of Vee, Blane, Wren, and all their friends and family.
