Publisher Description

Told from the first-person perspective of an autistic boy, Nora Raleigh Baskin’s novel is an enlightening story for anyone who has ever worried about fitting in.

Jason Blake is an autistic twelve-year-old living in a neurotypical world. Most days it's just a matter of time before something goes wrong. But Jason finds a glimmer of understanding when he comes across PhoenixBird, who posts stories to the same online site as he does.

Jason can be himself when he writes and he thinks that PhoneixBird-her name is Rebecca-could be his first real friend. But as desperate as Jason is to met her, he's terrified that if they do meet, Rebecca wil only see his autism and not who Jason really is.

By acclaimed writer Nora Raleigh Baskin, this is the breathtaking depiction of an autistic boy's struggles-and a story for anyone who has ever worried about fitting in.

Could be better

Hello everyone! I really liked this book but..... At the end of the book it starts to not make sense... Like the dream vision thing that he does (F.Y.I it is SOOOOOO annoying!!!☹️) I can't tell if it's reality or fake!!😕 and his weird sentences that he makes up like, "I like to stand next to the air conditioner because it makes a humming sound and I hum back its very soothing" I know this story is about this autistic boy but it's just that the story is slow and all over the place (at the end) it just seems like the author was just bored and said: " I give up! I'm running out of ideas! Let's just make this stuff sound stupid!" And this is the last thing I don't like about this book is: at the end he is deciding to give up writing and being smart! WHAT?! That is one of the most stupidest things I've ever HEARD!!!😠 I would recommend the book:Out of My Mind it's about this girl named melody who is very smart but she has ALS she can't walk and can't talk and guess what? She NEVER GAVE UP ON BEING SMART!!!! If you are smart you KEEP IT it's not a talent it's a GIFT and THAT STATEMENT is a FACT NOT a OPINION I would recommend Out of My Mind better than this book. Out of My Mind made me cry, laugh, and get mad. This book make me feel and look like this: 😶😐 anyways...I'm doing (have to) a book report on this book and I wouldn't recommend it at all but the beginning of this book is very good and if you are older than sixth grade I'm pretty sure you will get it more than I. I'm going into sixth grade so please don't give me the mean eye it's just my silly personal opinion and If you enjoyed this book thats great!
