Interesting Read
An interesting twist to a fated couple that is already set and has proved numerous times against the forces of evil that they will conquer everything thrown at them, including an altered reality. The never ending annoying love triangle that apparently has lasted 20books amazingly, is again the focal point in this book with roles switched between the male leads, with the same turmoils of confusion, guilt and self doubt. Though there is a reason for all the deception as Donalt plots and barters for his ultimate release of his chained fate, quite elaborately and dramatically.
I found this book to be misleading in the sense that a fated soulmate couple that has already ascended into their immortal power couldn’t connect with one another, there was literally no recognition between the characters given their newfound status in the series. It was like reading them begin all over again but in different lives, I would of personally liked such an altered reality if it were sooner in the series not 20+ books in when I’m expecting the characters to be much wiser from their past experiences and lessons learned.
Willow is trapped in an illusion of her home world, again seeming to be right back where she started in the beginning of this series, I saw no real growth of her character commanding and seeking the unknown, but one who was docile and preferred to ignore the obvious by living in her self denial no matter the consequence and drowning in her constant guilt of love affairs that never seem to conclude. Willow’s romance with Drake was one that was sweet but with a massive amount of possession, definitely lacking a true soul deep connection for obvious reasons.
Landen was and always will be the warrior who seeks to understand the unknown, after getting a little help from a barter repaid, he works tirelessly to understand what’s different and wrong with the world surrounding him no matter the convincing evidence it provides. As always even though in this reality Landen wasn’t romantically linked to Willow, he knew without doubt she belonged to him and didn’t let her romance with Drake distract him from the end goal, a very appreciated attribute.
Drake, the ever third wheel to Landen and Willow’s love, again was dealt a raw cruel hand, being torn in half by a cast to cause conflict and discord between Landen and Willow. Thankfully Drake seemed to know something was adrift and worked together to escape their circumstance instead of hindering it by staking a claim on a soul that isn’t his to own.
I don't know...
I seriously cannot pick a favorite book from the whole series - including Edge. I do love Charlie and Draven a lot, but the whole story grips me fiercely! But this book was somewhat frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I understood at the end. I'm just not sure it was especially needed. I'm sorry! I know I'm not the genius behind this story and I know you have a point here. It just wasn't my favorite. But I really, REALLY need you to write faster! :)
