Hawaii
Could not put this book down. Masterful storytelling, enchanting, informative. I knew when I was captivated by the geological formation of the islands in the beginning that it was going to be good. It just got better and better. Epic multi-generational account of the the islands and the unique struggles and experiences of its immigrants. Amazing story.
Hawaii
This will be my third reading of this wonderful, informative saga. At 82 years I can not carry such a tome around but was delighted to find it here. Michener is a wonderful author and makes everything come alive through words.
Rich history
I chose to read Hawaii as a result of my many vacations over the past several years. I yearned to discover the history of the islands so I could better understand the Hawaiian people and culture.
This book takes you on a journey from the beginning of the volcanos, creation of the islands, people who discovered it and those who lived there through many generations. So much detail and many characters to enjoy. You are transcended to another place and time.
It’s a long book with numerous character, but it was enjoyable and eye opening. I now understand!
