APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The game is afoot when three mysterious private eyes with famous names get involved with high-profile crimes in NYC. Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple, and Auguste Poe join forces to investigate the kidnapping of a rich teen and her stepfather; the purloining of a priceless pair of books; a gruesome cellar full of skeletons; and corruption at the city’s highest levels—all much to the annoyance of the NYPD and the FBI. James Patterson and Brian Sitts have created a fun new team of PIs with superior powers of deduction who live up to the reputations of their namesakes, whether they’re matching wits with a professional art thief, tracking down serial killers, or unraveling fraud in the mayor’s office. Holmes, Marple & Poe is a delight for James Patterson fans and the old-school mystery crowd alike.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this breezy thriller, Patterson and Sitts (coauthors of Circle of Death) introduce private eyes Brandon Holmes, Auguste Poe, and Margaret Marple as they tackle a series of cases involving murder, kidnapping, art theft, and fraud. The three have just set up an office in Brooklyn when they're called to investigate the disappearance of brilliant, beautiful attorney Sloane Stone. The detectives quickly locate her, garnering loads of positive press—and the interest of the police, who feel threatened by their competence. From there, the PIs take on multiple investgations, many of them branching from the initial mystery. Patterson and Sitts have fun playing with reader expectations based on the protagonists' famous namesakes: Poe, with his fabulous collection of vintage cars and eye for the ladies, whips out his Glock when confronted with evildoers; Holmes seems to have lost control of his drug habit; and the intrepid Miss Marple has the good looks to make her a man magnet. Each has friends in high and low places who help resolve most of the mysteries, robbing the proceedings of much suspense. Still, short chapters and brisk prose make for diverting-enough entertainment. This satisfies.

Holmes, Marple & Poe
Very entertaining, a fast and fun read
Looking forward o the rest.
Meh
While character development is strong, there are too many disconnected, implausible “connect the dots” incidences. Would have been much better if there were fewer cases. Also, creating a high-functioning heroin addict (Holmes) is a real stretch.
Amazing
Fast paced, packed with lots of memorable primary and secondary characters. Beautifully written. Love it!
