Retribution Games: Collection 1

There is a pretty well-developed plot based on the MMC wanting revenge for the murder of his wife. The book was fast-paced and fun to read. There was never a dull moment. You not only have a plot for revenge but also dangerous games played by the Corsi mafia empire and extensive initiations by the Retribution Kings. The Retribution Kings are a criminal empire who are vigilantes seeking revenge for wrongs done to its members. Kind of scary, right? There is also memory loss and a stalker thrown into the mix.

The MMC and FMC have multidimensional characters. The MMC is serious and hateful and deeply disturbed by events in his past. Kind of cliche but doesn't feel like it. The FMC is a trapped princess who knows how to take care of herself but is also scared and living on the edge. I especially liked the FMC. Everyone thought she was helpless but she really knew how to put that evil-doer down. There is instalust/love and obsession on the part of the FMC that is mostly unrequited. I love it when books have darkness and hatred towards the FMC by the MMC throughout most of the book. It makes things more interesting. Many books that are called dark romances have darkness only in the first few chapters and then there is a resolution in which the two main characters join in every sense of the word. Not to say that there isn't a lot of sex throughout this book. It starts pretty early on and there is a good bit of it. The secondary characters were also pretty well developed. You have the romancer, the hacker, the hater, and the gentleman, all of whom have special relationships with the FMC. This is not a reverse harem book though there may be a steamy scene including them all.

As with many dark romances, there is a back and forth of love and love not between the main characters built on misunderstandings and decisions based on faulty facts. And what a cliffhanger. Does the male main character finally get his revenge? Read on and see!.

I really enjoyed this book. The first book of this series spent a good bit of time laying the foundation for the rest of the series. It had moments when I felt like it was dragging a little bit, but I stuck with it, and was not disappointed. The characters in this book have very strong personalities that only become more intense as their story evolves.
