APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Take to the seas in this thrilling fantasy tale, the midpoint of Leigh Bardugo’s exciting Grisha Trilogy. Young Alina Starkov has become the only person in the kingdom of Ravka with the ability to protect against dark invading forces. This makes her a target for the power-hungry commander known as the Darkling—but with some unexpected guidance from a dashing pirate, she might just have the strength to set things right for good. Bardugo brings us into Alina’s head as she deals with her weighty destiny, as well as a potential love quadrangle with her devoted friend Mal, the swashbuckling Sturmhond, and the seductive Darkling. Alina’s intense struggle to wield her light-summoning powers with confidence sets her on a path toward a pulse-pounding finale that will have you reaching for more in the series. If you’ve already seen the exciting new show Shadow and Bone, this is a great way to dive further into the Grishaverse, although total newcomers can start here and get caught up quickly.
Alright read. Didn’t enjoy the end
I thought it was a decent book. Would have enjoyed more world building around the Capital and Alina in charge, but it’s whatever. I thought the end was a little unsatisfying but that is personal taste. Overall enjoyed this book worth the price and a quick read.
It was okay. I read book one and literally died over it. It just had the perfect amount of romance and action and it was just perfection! I picked up book two and be warned: It’s slow. Like SLOWWWW. It gets better around page 200, but overall the first half was just a missed cause for me. However, the romance was still perfection, the action was pretty awesome, and Nikolai is just SHEER WONDERFULNESS. Other than that, it was a 3/5. Still a good book though!
Amazing read!! If u like the Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and the movie Treasure Planet, I promise u will love this trilogy!!
