MISSING – Have you seen this girl? Nineteen-year-old Leila Hawkins was last seen on 24 June, 1994, when she left her parents’ anniversary party early and ran into the stormy night wearing her twin sister Stella’s long red coat. She was never seen again.
Stella holds the missing poster flat against the tree trunk and presses to make sure it’s secure. She tries not to look at the photograph on it. At the features so similar to hers. This time every year she decorates the small seaside town they grew up in with pictures of her beautiful missing twin. But after almost twenty-five years, is it even worth hoping someone will come forward?
The last thing Stella ever expects is a direct response from the person who took Leila. Wracked with guilt about the secret she’s been keeping since the night of the party, and completely alone in the world without the other half of her, Stella agrees to his strange request: private, intimate details of her life in return for answers.
But as the true events of the night of the party play out before her, Stella feels closer to Leila than she ever dreamed she’d be again – too close. Will it be too late before she realises she’s walked right into a deadly trap? Will she suffer the same fate as her sister?
From the bestselling author of The Perfect Friend, this absolutely gripping psychological thriller will keep you up all night and leave you sleeping with the light on. If you loved Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and The Wife Between Us this book is for you!

My Review:
Barbara Copperthwaite you are my new favorite author. This was the first book I read by this author and wow what a roller coaster ride it was. I can’t believe that ending. OMG!!!!! This book is a stand alone and not part of a series.
This book was about a woman named Stella who couldn’t get over the loss of her twin sister Leila. Her sister went missing many years earlier and no body was ever found. It’s coming up on the anniversary of her sisters disappearance and there’s a renewed interest from a documentary that was just made about it. Also, the documentary draws the killer out of hiding. What happened to Leila? Did Leila run away? Did she get murdered? Where is she? Where is the body? Can Stella finally find out the truth of what happened to her beloved twin sister.
Now let’s get to the book and what my thoughts are. Ok, so the book does start off really slow. Please keep reading though cause it does pick up by the middle of the book. You definitely won’t regret reading it by the end. That ending was awesome. On to the characters. I wasn’t a fan of Stella at all. I I did though love her desire and passion to find out what happened to her sister. But I found it to be a little too obsessive. It was way over the top obsessive and there had to be a point in time where she said enough is enough and move on with her life even if it was just a little. But it did mirror real life as some people just can’t move on until there is some type of closure. Also, her obsession with dogs totally turned me off on her. I get that she shut all the humans out of her life because she was in so much pain about her sister but she turned to dogs way too much. It was not healthy. What I’m trying to say is there could have been less about dogs and more human interactions. I do believe that the author intended some of these qualities of Stella and wanted to show what happens to someone when a loved one goes missing without any closure. On to the plot. I absolutely loved the plot. Who doesn’t like a good mystery book where someone goes missing. I love trying to figure out what has happened to them. Did they go off on their own or did something bad happen to them. Now to my favorite part of the book and why I’m giving this book five hearts. I loved, loved, loved that ending. If you follow me you know that I’m a sucker for a good twisty ending. If you don’t have a good twist that’s when the hearts start going down. I never found that to be the case with any of the books I have read but I am really picky. That ending though had a head banger of a twist. I couldn’t believe who did it, what happened and why it happened to Stellas sister Leila. I also loved that you found out in the end that Stellas sister was not so innocent as what everyone made her out to be. There is always that one character in the book that plays nice but will stab someone behind their back. Leila was that character in this book. Leila did bad things and got punished for it in the end. I loved this ending and will be thinking about it for a long time. The author really threw me for a loop and thank you for that.
Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
