FAINT OF HEART NEED NOT APPLY
Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance. Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In Hunter's first Decadent Dukes Society romance, a Regency-era duke's thirst for revenge turns into lust for the daughter of his sworn enemy. Adam Penrose, Duke of Stratton, wants to find the people who spread rumors that his father committed treason, leading to his father's suicide. Adam's first target is the Earl of Marwood or rather, his family, as the earl has also recently died. The Dowager Countess of Marwood, the earl's mother, wants to end the longtime feud between their families by marrying Adam to the earl's youngest daughter, Emilia. But Adam is not interested in the beautiful, demure young woman, preferring one who will be more of a challenge: Emilia's older half-sister, Clara. Clara has no desire to marry; she enjoys her independence, which allows her to publish a journal. Nonetheless, she is drawn to Adam. As he breaks down her resistance to intimacy, she starts to wonder whether his desire to wed her is merely part of his quest for vengeance. Hunter has created an intelligent, fast-paced romance, chock-full of sensuality and spiced with mystery.

Fantastic Writing
I thought the plot here was incredibly imaginative and original, but as the other reviewer has said, the emotional/romantic connection between Clara and Adam needed to be more developed for them to believably fall in love. The ending was also a bit abrupt to me; however, I am used to historical romances ending in epilogues, and that maybe be why I was caught off guard and unsatisfied with the ending.
Excellent Mystery!
I love how Madeline Hunter takes a story and makes it so hard to put down!
