Pete Brooks can't believe he's waited an entire year for Jess Tagg to return to Montana, only to have her break his heart by getting engaged to her ex-fiancé. Worse, a series of mistakes on the job have cost lives, and Pete isn't sure he wants to continue to work in Search and Rescue. Maybe if he can just get over Jess, he can figure out how to move forward.
EMT Jess Tagg has returned to Montana to finally give her heart to Pete, but it seems he's no longer interested. When a terrible fight between them sparks an impulsive decision, she finds herself crashed on the side of a highway along with Esme Shaw. And just when she thinks things couldn't get any worse, she and Esme are taken captive and into the untamed Montana wilderness--with murderous intent.
Now Pete and the other PEAK Rescue Team members are in a race against time, the elements, and the actions of a vengeful man. Pete will have to use everything he's learned to find Jess and Esme--and pray that his past mistakes don't cost him the life of the woman he can't stop loving.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A wedding reception is disrupted by a kidnapping in Warren's pulse-quickening sixth and final Montana Rescue inspirational thriller (after Storm Front). Search and rescue incident commander Pete Brooks has been in Missouri helping survivors of a flash flood. He rescued a family, but their child didn't survive, and he leaves for his home in Montana with a heavy heart. Jess Tagg (the heir of a billionaire who became rich through a Ponzi scheme) is living the life of a New York socialite with her fianc , Felipe. But when Jess is attacked by one of her father's former victims and her mother nearly discovers that her romantic engagement is actually a ruse, Jess decides she must return to Montana and come clean with longtime crush Pete to see whether there is any hope for them to be together. Mutual friend Ben King's wedding conveniently offers an excuse for many of the previous installments' characters to converge on Mercy Falls, Mont. Among them, Ned, a brother of one of the PEAK team members and failed smoke jumper, goes to the reception in hopes of surprising Shae, with whom he previously survived a tornado, with the news that he has enlisted in the Navy. But Ned, Shae, and Jess are run off the road and kidnapped, and Pete and Felipe must come together to find them. Faith becomes crucial as the characters rely on their prayers to get them through the harrowing events. This finale will thrill series fans, but newcomers will need to read the previous entries.

I never know how much to reveal when I write a review. But just let me say, this was well worth the wait. No, let’s me also say...... This cannot be the end of the Montana Rescue series!!!!!
I have loved every one of these books and will go back and read them all again now that I have read Pete’s story and know how things will end. So, sorry folks, you’re just gonna have to read it for yourselves to find out how this romance ends up!!!
Thanks again Susan for all the wonderful stories to enlighten our days!
Epic adventure
Action, adventure, mystery, and romance kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved this series and the ending had so many twists and turns, it kept me guessing. Pete and Jess continue to battle through their love for each other. Shae returns, hoping to come home as Ned wants to share his dreams with her. As enemies chase after them, who will survive, overcome, and reach for their dreams?... I love the parallels of Pete’s crazy love and rescuer heart. Ned’s desire to be heroic. The PEAK team all come together for this epic conclusion. The need to not do life alone and journey through this crazy life together was key. Loved the interwoven faith element. Swoon worthy moments, adventure, danger, and romance made this book pure awesomeness.
