This is the second part of the ‘Human Performance and Limitations’ course, focusing on human psychology.
When it comes to performing tasks, people occasionally go wrong.
In this section we try to paint a picture of why we go wrong and how we can deal with it. We mainly look at the human functioning as a pilot in the cockpit, but this can equally be applied in our daily life or in the workplace. Learning to recognise how mistakes occur allows you to minimise your personal mistakes.
It is also important to be adept at recognising different personalities. Sometimes referring to CRM is not haphazard because flying an aircraft involves a lot more than just operating that control stick. It is the effective use of all available resources to assure a safe and efficient operation, reducing error and avoiding stress. Whether you fly alone with a crew, a flight operation involves a lot of contact with other people. Just think of refueling, ATC, meteorology, technology, etc…, all of which can ultimately influence your performance in the cockpit.
No one likes to deal with an emergency, but to be able to act in a timely and correct manner, one must be prepared.
Knowledge gives confidence. It is therefore important to increase his knowledge of oneself and of his or her limitations.
