Customer Reviews
Simple in the best sense of the word
I enjoy cooking but am constantly put off by showy, unnecessarily complicated cookbooks which seem to be the norm these days. Not to mention the hefty price tag. This book is such a refreshing change- stylish and elegant but incredibly reasonably priced, and all devoted to that most simple yet essential ingredient- the potato. I cook with potatoes all the time, as do many cooks, but tend to do one of three things with them: boil and salt them, mash them with butter or roast them. This book has given me many more interesting ideas and techniques to experiment with, and takes a nice relaxed approach. Excellent value for money.
Surprisingly versatile
Like most people, I have always tended to view potatoes as a side accompaniment to whatever meat or fish I'm eating, rather than as an important ingredient in its own right. How wrong I was! This wonderfully user-friendly book has been a real eye-opener for me, and has helped me to appreciate just how delicious the humble potato is. Ideal served with a bit of butter, salt and a sprinkling of fresh herbs. I will now choose my varieties with greater care. Thumbs up to the mustard mash, potato omelette and gnocchi with sage butter. Will be trying more of the Cooking With Passion series!
Surprising in so many ways
I was genuinely thrilled with this gem of a book. I never would have expected one could create such delicate and stylish dishes from the humble potato! How wrong I was. It has given me renewed inspiration to experiment more with flavours and textures- potatoes are brilliant for complementing other ingredients. The clear and easy to follow instructions, combined with the informative and practical text and the moderate price make this a real winner.
