Kevin Lofton, FACHE, heads Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), a national healthcare system that sponsors 68 hospitals, 44 long-term-care facilities, assisted and independent living and residential facilities, and 5 community health services organizations. Mr. Lofton joined CHI in 1998 as regional president. Later, he was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer. In 2003, he was named president and chief executive officer. Previously, Mr. Lofton held several leadership positions. He was the chief executive officer for the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. He also served as the chief executive officer of Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, and as chief operating officer at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
