My baby girl, I’ll never forget you – your smile, your laugh, the way your hair sparkles in the sun. I cannot comprehend this pain. I cannot breathe through it.
For Claire, life as she knows it is over. And after the death of her daughter, Julia, she is searching for answers. Stumbling upon a pile of letters, hidden under Julia’s bed in an old, battered shoebox, she feels closer to her daughter than ever before. They tell her that Julia was happy, that she was thriving at university, that she was in love.
But as the letters go on, Claire starts to feel uneasy at something hidden between the lines. Even as she grieves, she must prepare to face a shocking discovery. Because Julia was hiding a terrible secret – and when it’s uncovered, it will make Claire question everything she thought she knew about her daughter…

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nicole Trope’s propulsive domestic drama grasped our attention, and our emotions, from its first, harrowing moments. After Julia, a young journalism student, is found dead, a secret box of love letters is uncovered. What they contain leave her mourning mother, Claire, both deeply troubled and desperate to discover more about who her daughter really was, and she finds herself consumed by grief and memories from her own past traumas. The first-person narration shares the story from Claire’s perspective: she's a distraught mother, yearning for answers, whose guilt, frustration and love are palpable. These deeply intimate and difficult themes aren’t always the easiest to digest, but that’s what makes My Daughter’s Secret so readable. Trope has done a superb job of capturing the messiness of being human.

Loved!!!!!
My Review:
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! Such a heartbreaking emotional read this was for me. I was crying in just the first few chapters alone. This author will sure do this to you. I’ve read many of her books and they all have a little bit of mystery to solve along with making you feel every single emotion there is. When a character cried, I cried, when they laughed, I laughed and when they were happy, I was happy too. This book was no different from all her others. You always think you know where the book was headed but then bam there are so many twists and you really don’t know. You are left shocked and speechless by the end. I chose this book for the blurb. A mothers precious young daughter dies and she wants to find out why like any mother would. Luckily, she finds letters and starts reading them to piece everything together. Nothing is what it seems at all. There was so much more going on. I loved every single thing about this book especially that ending. That is what made it for me. Justice was done right. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you
Just finished reading this and The Boy in the Photo. and Both were great reading - exactly what you intended - took my mind off my situation. As a survivor, I know all to well about needing answers and going to extreme measures to find them. Keep up the good work. I hope to publish my experience one day.
Predictable
This book was so predictable. Kind of disappointing. The first half was pretty good but got boring once you figure it out.
