Publisher Description
New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant rounds up the hottest cowboys in Texas in her latest novel of no-holds-barred passion.
Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian who has devoted her whole life to the care and protection of horses—even if doing so leaves her little time for meeting a man. Who would have thought that a strange case of criminal horseplay would lead her to falling deeply, wildly in love? If only the man who makes her heart race faster than a wild mustang would let his guard down, that is. . .
Caleb Harper is no ordinary cowboy. Sure, he wears his hat, boots, and jeans like a second skin, and displays an easygoing charm that comes from years of working on the ranch. But with his military background, and Army buddies at his side, he is tried-and-true Texas tough. Audrey knows she can trust a man like Caleb to help her save horses. But can Caleb trust himself to resist his attraction to Audrey—or will the sparks of their desire end up getting them burned?
“A fantastic, first-class Lone Star romance.”

Very good
This was a very good book and I’m hoping this is not the end of the series. I’d like to see the other guys get there HEA.
Caleb Harper is happy that his siblings have found love but it’s not for him and I never will be. He’s never gotten passed his mothers abandonedment so one night stands is just right for him.
Audrey Martinez has one goal, her thriving veterinarian practice and the horses she she chosen to specialize in. She has no time for a true relationship so love them then push them away in the end. Anyways she’ll never find the kind of true love her parents had.
When the local horse auction house has sick horses the owner calls Audrey in to help find out why. Thinking the worst that the horses were poisened the owner calls in friends to help with security, Clayton West and the Harper brothers.
Caleb and Audrey’s attraction is instant and chemistry off the charts but there was a job to do and horses to save. So ignoring their feelings was the way to go, neither wanted a relationship. When dangerous and deadly things start to happen Caleb vows to protect Audrey even if that means Audrey being the first woman he’s ever taken to his ranch. Now to keep their hands to themselves when all they want is the opposite. When they finally come together it’s the best thing that’s ever happened but their insecurities just might end up ruining a love of a lifetime.
I highly recommend this series, I need to go back and read Abby and Clayton’s book, I read book 2 (Brice and Naiome) and liked that book also.
Compelling suspense story with a great romance
Compelling suspense story with a great romance. Audrey has worked hard to be one of the best equine vets and when she is called in to help some sick horses, she is puzzled as to what the problem is. This begins the journey into this mystery. Caleb loves horses and has worked hard with his brother to build their own ranch. He doesn’t do relationships, suffering from abandonment issues. When he meets Audrey, he is drawn to her passion and compassion she has for horses. As they both become involved in the mystery surrounding the horses, they find that they have several things in common. Audrey has struggled with relationships, always putting her work first. Will these two lonely hearts find a path to love together? I was pulled into this love story and really enjoyed the underlying mystery that surprised me with its twists and turns.
Charming
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a charming read. I was enchanted right from the beginning. Caleb and Audrey are two wonderful characters with basically the same issue that prevents them from entering into a relationship. While they work together to save some ill horses and solve a crime, they fall in love. These characters go through a very intense couple of days that help to push these two together. But is it enough to last a lifetime? You will have to read for yourself.
This story has all the highs and lows of a great book. The roller-coaster ride that you go through is definitely worth it. You also get to see characters from prior books of this series. I so hope that a few secondary characters get their stories as well.
This story is written in my favorite dual POV. Being able to read the characters' POV really gives a better understanding of their actions and why they say the things that they do.
While this story is a part of a series, you don't necessarily need to read the other stories to thoroughly enjoy this one.
