Forbidden love
I love your book!thank you
Royally Frustrating
I had high hopes for this book, truly I did. I don’t know how she can go from writing such an amazing story about Stellan and Margot to this. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t love it. I struggled a bit to read this and was frustrated the whole time. Erik was too in his head and stubborn, Annika was spoiled and kind of a diva. I didn’t like how Erik would mess with her feelings the whole time. He would give into his desire for Annika, only to toss her aside after and say “this can’t happen again” or “we can’t” it was exhausting, really. The constant play of “will they” or “won’t they.” It was enough to think that I was wasting my time reading something with too many things ping ponging back and forth. Plus, the constant feeling like I was being constrained under a microscope with them. It was ridiculous how every little thing was exaggerated, truth left out and assumptions they were going through. Now I know what it’s like to be famous. No wonder Annika reacts the way she does with certain triggers. It was too much, how was she expected to live her life when it was played out how it was in this book. On top of this, it was hard for me to connect with Annika and Erik. Their personalities and chemistry didn’t pull me in like it did with Stellan and Margot. I don’t even understand how Erik was even like that. It’s not like he had his heart broken before and was afraid of falling in love again. He was just uncomfortable with the dynamics of his and Annika’s status and he couldn’t get over it, plus he was constantly worrying about how it would be perceived to the Royals and outside world. When he let that part go, it was a much better story but not enough to warrant a higher rating. It honestly makes me rethink about reading Lars and Pippa’s story but I’m hoping there is more of a mutual agreement and attachment with them, prompting a better story.
