Carrie Owen Plietz, FACHE, began her career at Columbia/HCA Richmond Atlantic Division in 1996, moving the following year to Bon Secours Richmond Health System. She joined Sutter Health in San Francisco in 1999 as an administrative resident. In 2002, she became vice president, clinical services, at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and in two years was promoted to the chief administrative officer and vice president, specialty services. Since 2008, she has served as the chief operating officer at Mills-Peninsula Health Services/Sutter Health System in Burlingame, California. She earned a bachelor's degree in health services administration from James Madison University and a master of science in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Campus. Ms. Plietz serves in leadership roles for a variety of professional and community organizations. She is president of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders, one of ACHE's largest chapters, which serves 50 of the 58 counties in California. Ms. Plietz also serves on the Northern and Central California Regents Advisory Council and ACHE's Governance Task Force. She also serves as chair for ACHE's Early Careerist Committee and sits on the board for the Women's Community Clinic in San Francisco.
