All in all this was a sexy, fun read that had me feeling all sorts of emotions.
Eric Vail is a sous chef at Top, the hottest restaurant in Dallas. Its owned by Sean Taggart, he hires former military to work at this restaurant so Eric being a former SEAL fits right in. He loves cooking and thrilled that Sean agrees to help him open his own restaurant. Always up for a challenge he looks forward to getting started. In the meantime his biggest challenge to date is to get the lovely Deena Holmes to notice him as more than a work colleague. When Eric decides o sign up for the Dom training class at BDSM club Sanctum owned by Sean's brother Ian it turns out to be the perfect opportunity for Eric to get his hands on Deena in more way than one.
Deena has lost at love so many times she has closed off her heart. Eric her friend at work is the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen, but she can't risk her heart again. So she keeps him at arms length no matter how hard he tries to get her to go out with him. Since she realizes love is not an option for her she signs up as a submissive trainee at Sanctum in hopes of finding some fun with a Dom so she can explore the world of BDSM. She know she can leave love out of the equation. That is until Eric becomes the Dom she is assigned to then her heart comes into play and she's afraid she'll get hurt.
She has to keep it casual its all about the fun and the experience but she soon realizes Eric maybe more than she can handle.
I loved Deena and Eric as a couple. Eric was so alpha male sexy, he's military and he can cook what more could a girl ask for? Deena did annoy me sometimes with her resistance to the big guy but I knew it was because of her past experiences that made her afraid to let her heart go. Lexi does such a great job developing her characters that you feel their emotions. I also adore that she adds in some of our favorite characters from the Masters and Mercenaries series especially my love Ian Taggart. He is the comic relief in any situation. When Deena tries to talk him into giving her a new Dom to train with I laughed and I cried a little with Deena.
All in all this was a sexy, fun read that had me feeling all sorts of emotions.
Short
I liked this book but some of it kind of seemed rushed and it was short.
Disappointing
I have read most of this series, and I must say I am disappointed with this and the last book of the series. I think Ms. Blake is overstaying her welcome with this series. I just don't think she is writing likable characters anymore. Both Eric and Deena were boring characters. Honestly, Eric was probably the weakest Dom Ms. Blake has ever written, and it was driving me crazy that he kept letting Deena top from the bottom. I think it is time to let this series go.
